If you happen to be stuck in a situation where you restored your Ledger device but can no longer remember which coins you had, and looking for an easy option — there isn’t one per see, but, there are some alternatives.

Once a Ledger device has been reset with the recovery phrase, usually you will need to start again by adding all the accounts you had cryptos for. As of this moment, there is no way to get this information from Ledger as this information is independent and only available to the users. Ledger has got nothing to do with it.

So, what type of help could you get if you find yourself in this unfortunate situation where you had numerous coins but did not want to have to install an account for each and every one of these coins? This tutorial will give you some alternatives to this ill situation.

Solutions

Make sure you are using the latest version of Ledger Live.

  1. Go over transaction histories — unfortunately, there is no such history in Ledger Live so this will have to be done manually by systematically going over emails, exchanges, and other software wallets you might have used. Gaining access to these will help you obtain a transcript of all your previous transactions. If lucky, you could find your answer in there.
  2. Manually re-add every account you can recall — there is no easy way out of this, and you will need to add the accounts as before.

Steps to install and add accounts to your Ledger device:

To begin ‘Open the Manager’ app as follows:

a) Click on the Manager in the left panel

b) Connect and unlock your Ledger device

c) Press both buttons to allow the Manager on your device.

d) Once Manager is opened you can install the apps required by pressing the ‘Install’ button. Depending on the size of the app, the installation may take several minutes to complete.

e) When the installation is complete you need to click on ‘Add account’ button as seen in the image below.

3. Track your portfolio — this is for the future. If you start tracking your portfolio and this happens again, you will have a much better start.

Conclusion

Unfortunately, if you used a Ledger Nano X/S wallet before but have not used it in a while that you had to restore your device, leaving you with the issue of needing to reinstall all of your apps there are limited options available. These have been described in this tutorial. The path to restoration is a bit bumpy but you will get there, and I’m certain that you will know better in the future!
